National Voters' Day is celebrated every year on 25 January to commemorate the foundation day of the Election Commission of India (ECI) in 1950.
• The main objective of this day is to encourage, facilitate and ensure eligibility of all Indians to vote.
• National Voters' Day was celebrated for the first time in the year 2011.
• The Election Commission of India is a constitutional body established under Article 324 of the Constitution.
• This body conducts elections for the Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and State Assemblies in India and for the posts of President and Vice President in the country.
• Part XV of the Indian Constitution deals with elections, and establishes a commission for these matters
